Ruth Cohen Hammer
Ruth Cohen Hammer was born in New York and moved to North Carolina in 1979. She attended Princeton University,
graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1979. Ruth then obtained her Juris Doctor from Duke University in 1983. Upon graduation from law school, Ruth practiced law
in Durham until 1990. In 1990 Ruth married and moved with her husband to Michigan. While there she practiced with the firm Jacob & Weingarten in Troy, Michigan. In 1994 Ruth
and her family returned to North Carolina and she practiced with the Durham firm of Roberti, Wittenberg, Lauffer & Wicker, PC, until she joined Reinhardt Milam Law Group in
January, 2006. Ruth's law practice consists primarily of estate planning, probate and guardianship matters.
Ruth is married to Kenneth Hammer, who is Deputy General Counsel for Lenovo Group Limited. Ruth and Ken have two children, ages 11 and 13. The Hammers are active
members of Temple Beth Shalom in Cary, North Carolina. Ruth is a past President of the 14th Judicial District and Durham County Bar Associations, and is also active in and sits
on the board of the National Charity League Cardinal Chapter. In her time away from the office, Ruth enjoys watching her children play sports, attending Carolina Hurricanes and
Durham Bulls games, walking the family dog, gardening, reading science fiction and historical fiction, and especially, traveling with her family.
